Yale's goal was threefold: 1) inform alumni and the general public about the progress of university's extensive campus-wide renovation efforts, 2) solicit additional contributions from alumni to support ongoing renovations, and 3) showcase a significantly upgraded campus to potential student applicants. Solution: Interview the prime movers of the renovation efforts including Yale University President, Richard Levin -- as well as the beneficiaries of the renovations -- namely, students and faculty -- and then provide a striking visual portrait of a legendary campus. Tech Specs: We shot the interviewees on green screen and composited to background footage from the campus, using Blue Ice and Ultimatte software for import into a Media 100 system. We shot footage on location throughout the Yale campus and used a micro-jib rig to produce dramatic sweeping shots of building interiors. Materials from various Yale archives were utilized in animations produced in After Effects. The soundtrack features music by noted Yale composers such as Charles Ives, Paul Hindemith, and Cole Porter and performed by such artists as Benny Goodman as well as a number of Yale orchestras and singing groups.
